THE REVOLUTION CONTINUES: International Women's Day, Link TV, Rise for the Raise!

Sunday, 8 March marks International Women's Day and activist around the world celebrating and RISING!

One Billion Rising: Revolution continues to escalate, growing out of 14 February, through 8 March all the way until 1 May, International Workers Day. This week major events are happening in Bangladesh, Guyana, India, the Philippines, and more. In Haiti as they build to Rev Pa'm Fest, in Joburg, South African youth activist are leading the way on the ground and with online activism, Kinshasa DRC is dancing and RISING in the face of multiple oppressions, and activists in Mongolia are RISING across sectors: V-Men, students, actors, health workers, and participants from Ulaanbaatar to Sükhbaatar Province are joining the Revolution!

Monique Wilson & Kenyan activists Agnes Pareyio appear on a special show dedicated to International Women's Day. Laura Flanders, of GRITtv, interviews them and profiles women activists from the US civil rights movement. The show aires on satellite TV network LINK TV over the next week and also available to view online.

RISE FOR THE RAISE in NYC and beyond!

Restaurant Opportunities Centers United (ROC United) and the One Fair Wage Campaign kicks-off Women’s history month with a historic victory. Last week, Governor Cuomo announced a raise to $7.50 an hour for New York’s 400,000 tipped workers.

Dedicated activism and support for the ongoing campaign has made this victory possible, but there is still more to do in order to review the entire two-tiered wage system at a national level.
